Grass Roots is a series of three Strangers and Freaks side-missions in Grand Theft Auto V.

Mission objectives

  1. 1Complications
  2. 2Pulling Favors
  3. 3Speak with Barry at his table in Legion Square.
  4. 4Defeat all of the aliens.
  5. 5Allows the aliens to abduct and vaporize Michael.
  6. 6Leaves the immediate area.
  7. 7Is wasted.
  8. 8Jimmy De Santa - " Are you sure you aren't completing losing your mind? I saw you staggering around Legion Square earlier yelling shit about aliens? It's textbook midlife crisis, Dad, get a grip. "
  9. 9Three's Company
  10. 10Speak with Barry at his table in Legion Square.
  11. 11Defeat all of the clowns and the vehicles in which they arrive.
  12. 12Don't kill every clown in sight before reloading. Instead, reload when there's one clown left. This way, Trevor can respond faster once he finished the lone clown.
  13. 13Clowns dance on two occasions, seldom when they spawn, and when they reload. So by drawing out the shootout, the clowns will have to dance eventually. Kill them then.
  14. 14When there's one clown left in each wave, wait for the clown to dance and kill then.
  15. 15Leaves the immediate area.
  16. 16Is wasted.
  17. 17Three's Company
  18. 18Meet Barry at a storefront in Textile City.
  19. 19Leave the area or lose the wanted level received if he lingers long enough near Barry.
  20. 20Wait for a text revealing the locations of the stash vehicles.
  21. 21Grass Roots - Franklin
  22. 22Go to the lumber yard in Murrieta Heights.
  23. 23Locate the stash vehicle.
  24. 24Drive the vehicle to Barry's apartment in Vespucci.
  25. 25Lose any police wanted level if one has been acquired.
  26. 26Leave the vehicle at Barry's apartment.
  27. 27It is better to use the freeway to get to the objective, regardless of what the GPS says, taking the Del Perro exit.
  28. 28As soon as the truck goes out the main front gates of the lumberyard, Franklin will get a two-star wanted level. Going out the back of the lumberyard avoids this.
  29. 29Destroys the stash vehicle.
  30. 30Runs out of time.
  31. 31Is busted.
  32. 32Is wasted.
  33. 33Grass Roots - Franklin
  34. 34Go to the scrapyard in La Puerta.
  35. 35Locate the stash vehicle.
  36. 36Find a way to move the non-operational vehicle.
  37. 37Tow the vehicle to Barry's apartment in Vespucci.
  38. 38Leave the vehicle at Barry's apartment.
  39. 39As soon as the car is towed to the alleyway, it can be unhooked, even while still on the move. This allows for a quick drop off, as the timer keeps running until Franklin leaves the area.
  40. 40Avoid slamming on the brakes or hitting anything while driving the tow truck.
  41. 41Although Franklin's special ability can reduce the time objective, the tow truck's sharp turns can easily hook off the car losing both Time and Hooked objectives.
  42. 42Destroys the stash vehicle.
  43. 43Runs out of time.
  44. 44Is busted.
  45. 45Is wasted.
